Human freedom and the value of life

By Avi Alog

According to Wikipedia "The human freedom has two key aspects, one internal, and the other external.

The internal aspect believes that the uniqueness of man compared to the animals is by his ability to be a free will living creature that doesn’t act according to his natural urges and impulses but to his mind conscience, principles and insights.

As more developed the creature and less primitive, it's easier for him to be free from patterns of instincts and impulses, and the man standing at the top development.

As he evolved he managed to remove biological and physical constraints that the laws of nature presented him.

The external freedom aspect rule out a situation in which a person would be owned or controlled by other factors outside.

In many periods of human history part of the people were not free.

In the ancient times, a lot of societies had a social structure of two classes, masters, and slaves".

Even though the meaning to the term is right, it's is our ambition and our right to be free of expression, to be free of will to do whatever we want, we suppose to act according to our thought and insights and not to our natural urges and impulses, we are not primitive creatures, we are standing at the top of the development, we are not owned or controlled by any other people, and of course we are not in the times where people were not free and we don’t have such a thing as masters and slaves.

Really??

Did things really change from the history until our life right now? Did we upgrade ourselves as the years passed by or we got stuck? I think we did get stuck, we have been stuck for a lot of years and as the time passing by we won't be able to get out.

Since the biblical period, people defined themselves as the chosen ones, as rich and the other people they saw as inferiors, worthless.

Let's think for a second what we had in the last few centuries:

A murder of 6 million people just because they were Jewish.

Human trafficking, slavery and murder because of skin color.

Inequality, that still exists, just because they are women.

Discrimination, humiliation and even murder of people that are attracted to the same gender.

Humiliation and abusing people with weight problems that sometimes led to suicides.

The hate of people to each other from their own religion and nationality.

Religions around the world that rejects each other and "proving" them wrong.

Important religious people captured sexual abusing or raping minors or women.

The impatience, that we created in ourselves for other people and other opinions.

The ego, that control and change people's life around the world.

Corrupt governments, that money is all their interest, not the population.

Ministers, that went from "elected officials" to rapists, thieves, liars or cheaters.

Financiers, who are looking to get more rich and powerful so they can control more groups and people in society.

Food and beverage giants that sell us food full of chemicals and toxins just to get more money.

Cigarette companies, that fills up our cigarettes with as much nicotine as possible so we can get more addicted and buy more.

Medicine companies that sell us medicine full of chemicals so we can get healthy from one thing and get sick in something else.

Weapon companies, that keep growing up and expanding around the world, when their target is clear, to kill people.

Disputes and false principles that led to countless wars that were and will be in humanity.

So let me ask you again, have we developed or stayed in the same place?

Our life indeed became much easier thanks to the technology that keeps getting better, we are more aware to things that happening in the world, our children born with better intelligence.

But still, how can we call ourselves developed creatures if we can't live in peace with the people of our own country?

How can we say that we are free if we are all controlled by rich people and the government?

How can we say our life are free if we dedicate all of it to work and making money until we don’t have enough strength to do it anymore?

How can we say we believe in equality when we call other people as "different", "weird", "fat" or "ugly"?

Somewhere during the humanity process we forgot few things;

We concerned ourselves with making money, surround ourselves with as many material things as possible, but we forgot what is actually human life, what does it meant to be a human being, being free, we agreed to follow the society because that's what everyone else is doing.

We started to hate more people that were not "normal" according to our definitions; we stopped believing in love and its power and blocked it with anger, lies and cheatings.

We stopped believing in people and being fair because "everyone are liars and thieves", so we should be like that too, so we won't be "suckers".

In other words, we became less human, more machines.

We came to a situation where we don't think by ourselves but with other, we see people that think different than us as "stupid" or "living in another reality".

We hate people because everyone hates people.

Humanity came to a status that hate has become the first in the rank.

Love became as an elution, we accept the fact that we suffer more and enjoy less, we hate people that have money, but we are being in pursuit after money and wealth all of our life.

So where are we really aiming to? Where does our freedom comes reflected if we judge other people with their own freedom of expression or their way of thinking?

Human freedom is something that suppose to be existed in us, always, in every case and every subject, this is our full right to be free and express ourselves and our beliefs.

Judgment is not a part from freedom, it is a lack of freedom, part of hate, of unacceptance or understanding.

If we won't accept and understand we won't be free, if we will live according to judgment we won't be free, if we will live according to demands we won't be free, if we will live according to our impulses we won't be free, if we will try to change instead of accept we won’t be free, if there is no faith there is no freedom, if there is no love there is no freedom.

We are human beings, all of us, no matter who is the person, what is his skin color, how he looks, how much he weighs, what he thinks or how much he earns.

We are all made from the same material, and this is something that we probably forgot, we give great value to people that measured by money, religion, appearance or status, but not giving value to people we don't know or that are in a "lower status".

Since we were little we have been taught, not intentionally, of course, in most cases, to generalize people, to categorize people.

We were taught to make money without realizing what we are doing, but as it says up there, a free man is a person that can conduct by his thoughts, not others, we have the ability to think with ourselves what is true for us, what is true about others.

We must remember again about the word love and the power it carries within it, we must remember again about the word trust that really exist and that is real, we must remember again about the term freedom which is really the purpose of us as human beings.

Our goal in this life is to be us, human beings, with compassion and love, with giving, bring the good that is in us, accepting all the people just for the fact that they are just like us, flesh and blood, we can live a better life, more quite, if we will just make some room for the positivity in ourselves, if we will make room for the accepting in ourselves, we can give our part in this world  so it can look and feel better, so we can really feel more free.

It all starts with the fact that we stop judging and start accepting that everyone is human and everyone has the right to choose their way of life.

We need to understand that there isn't only one way, one truth, every person has a different lifestyle and a different perspective on the world, it doesn’t mean that this person is wrong; it is simply his opinion, that is his full right to say or think different than us and it's totally fine.

It is totally fine to be different, it is totally fine to hear another person's opinion it just makes the world more interesting.

Just like as we deserve freedom and the possibility to do what we want, so does other people, even if they are "different" than us.

There is a beautiful sentence that says "what is hateful to you, don't do to others", and it is so true, just think about it, if someone would have said that you are ugly or stupid how would you feel? Would you like people to say these things to you? I don't think so;

The same goes with other people, don’t judge, catalog, or give people derogatory names because you know the feeling, because you would not like to get this feeling.

We have to leave our prejudice aside, realize that every person that we see on the street, see on TV, if he is rich or poor, fat or skinny, stupid or smart, he is a human being!!

Humanity came to a problematic situation, that people hate people they don't even know, if they were with different religion, or rich, or smart, good looking, annoying ones or people that we just didn’t want to like for "no reason".

We wish death to people we have problem with, if it's a social or political issue, we have disagreements among our own people, we hate the ones that are too extreme in their opinion or people who have no opinion, we feel committed to being belong to some side, and the ones that are not, we see as stupid, traitor or any other silly thing.

In some part of our life we allowed ourselves to say our opinion about people, anyone, without looking at ourselves, and if someone says something about us we get upset and don't want to hear it.

We don't have the right to determine who is the person or what he is, just because we are like that, we really need to understand what we are doing, to what we cause, we are increasing the hatred and jealousy among us, passing it on to our children, to our family and friends, we slowly forget why we hate, we slowly forget what is hate, we show less compassion, less believing, we don't really believe that living a good life is possible, so how exactly do we want to get them, what are we looking for?

Good life is simply live with good, give and receive, believe that the good indeed exist and is possible, the world works according to good and bad energies, if you did something bad you will get the same, but if you did something good you will get the same and even more, I don't think that someone ever did something good and felt bad from it, this is the ultimate feeling that we want to feel, good!

It's time that we realize who and what we are, realize that we all on the same globe, we are all citizens of this world, that thing that called earth.

It's time that we love more and hate less, accept more instead of rule out, it's time to be happy about other people opinions, that we will want to learn from other people and from their experiences.

It's time to stop forcing ourselves and our opinions, if it's on our children, on our parents, on our sister and brothers, on our friends, on us.

Every person has the ability to think by himself, it is the most amazing thing we got in this life, the ability to draw conclusions for what looks right and feels right.

We came to this world with love, not hate; no father brought his children to the world with hate or anger, no mother were mad or felt hate at the moment she first saw her child, only love, this is the most powerful force within us and we can make so much with it.

Thanks to love we have created ourselves a comfortable life, with all the technology, the houses, the cars, the good food, all of this thanks to the love those people had for developing and designing, for a batter future.

So if we really look at it, we can see that everything moves according to love, no matter which subject the love is attending to, but it is really there.

Let's start by loving ourselves, all of who and what we are, just because it is the only person that will be with us for the rest of our life.

The moment we will really love ourselves, thanks to who and what we are, a loving creature, we can love the rest of the people that surrounds us, we can accept them thanks to who and what they are, human beings just like us, start appreciating the world that we live in, the food that we eat, the water we drink, the amazing views there are in this world, the people that makes us feel happy, the people that live in this world and doing their best to survive.

It is time to realize that we all live on the same globe and we all have the same purpose, and that is to live.
